Doris Talks About Graduating From Colorado City High School

Doris says she graduated from Colorado City High School in 1940. She ranked in the top ten of 102 students.

She says she would not have gotten to go to the graduation but her mom got a neighbor to drive them to the ceremony.

She was able to pay for her $5 class ring and her cap and gown by working in the NYA program.
She received $5 per month for grading shorthand papers. She shared that she still has the ring but jokes that it is worn in two on the back.
