Doris Talks About Her First Job After High School

Doris says that after graduation she went to work for Aunt Ava at her boarding house for oil field workers during the boom. She would help her cook and do laundry for about 15 men. Her main job was to get up around 3am to make sandwiches for them to take to the job site.

Doris says she was paid $4 per week plus room and board. She shared a room with her grandmother and slept on a cot.
