Doris Talks About Her Brothers And School

Doris talks about her three younger brothers. She started to school at Ira in 1929. They moved to Bethel and went to school there. She lived in a 2-story farm house but the family did not use the upstairs. Her 2 brothers were so full of life that her parents took off the bottom 3 steps of the stairway to keep them from going up. But Doris was able to navigate it and used the upstairs as her playhouse where she kept her paper dolls. She said that she had 300 paper dolls (cutout from catalogs/magazines). Somehow, Dale – who was 6 years younger – made his way upstairs and beheaded every one of them. Brothers….
